Evaluates assigned personnel performance, documentation, and observable maintenance processes to assure compliance with technical and procedural directives.
Inspects major systems components and parts for defects, service ability, and proper installation using technical manuals and following approved maintenance procedures.
Visually checks equipment and parts, examining system diagrams, drawings and manufacturers data.

Serves as technical advisor and assistant to production work center managers in the resolution of quality problems.
Maintains unit product improvement programs. Interprets technical orders, blueprints, aircraft schematics, instructions and messages regarding aircraft maintenance methods and procedural guidance.
·
Administers Quality Assessment Program (QAP). Maintains and updates quality assurance tracking and trending program. Prepares written reports of QAP data per quality program guidance.
Presents QAP trending data to unit senior leaders as defined by prescribing directives.
Makes recommendations for resolution to identified problem areas.
·
Administers unit aircraft weight and balance program. Performs weight and balance computations for input into software data packages.
Periodically weighs assigned aircraft and annotate aircraft records.
Coordinates with unit functions, that are assigned aircraft, to correct aircraft record discrepancies.
·
When tasked, maintains master technical order library for aircraft maintenance functions.
Administers unit FCF program for maintenance; coordinates development of appropriate FCF checklists and procedures with operations and conducts FCF briefings.
THE HOURLY SALARY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS: $22.58-26.35.

Ability To Do the Work of an Aircraft Work Inspector without More Than Normal Supervision
(Screen-out Element)
2.
Ability to perform a variety of inspections in-process inspections, preflight/basic post-flight, thru-flight, home station checks to detect and isolate malfunctions and to determine when new assemblies, components and parts of aircraft should be installed, reworked, repaired, or adjusted.
3.
Knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits.
4.
Skill in using a variety of tools required to perform assessments, e.g., micrometers, torque wrenches, tension meters, feeler gages, magnifying glass, rig pin, flashlight; ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repairs and proper installation of parts and modifications.
5.
Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and technical orders. Knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work.
6. Knowledge of and practical application of Total Quality Management (TQM) principals and processes; knowledge of skill enhancement training requirements and ability to use and manage functional data bases.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
:
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

May be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft during FCF and/or to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
·
May be subject to shift work and uncommon tours of duty. Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position.
The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.
Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies.
The incumbent?s regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.

Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
·
This is a designated drug testing position; subject to random drug testing.
